I have not posted yet on the BOS race because I have been hoping for some time to see a strong position by Buona on not renewing the Openband franchise.  No such position has come.  Furthermore, Buona has made the mistake of taking significant amounts of cash from Openband and affiliated individuals and companies. 

As a conservative Republican, it is simply not acceptable for me to vote for a republican like Buona who is apparently prepared to support an anti-free market situation. Openband has engaged in a likely illegal monopoly that can be broken through appropriate action from the Board of Supervisors.  That action has been being pursued by the current BOS.  Openband has donated unprecedented amounts of money to a slate of candidates apparently designed to buy their influence and thus a re-franchise.  There really is no other explanation for the large amounts of money flowing into certain races.

If I am wrong, it only takes a clear statement from Buona to correct the record.  None has come and it is time for Republicans to make clear that we will not treat this like a football and just root for our team without considering the damage that could be done to our community.  In the race which encompasses the Southern Walk community that is also fighting Openband, the Republican candidate has CLEARLY come out against re-franchising Openband.  That candidate has taken NO money from Openband. 

Why will not Buona do the same?

Based on this clearly insensitive acceptance of Cash from a company that most of his potential constituents are fighting against and his lack of clear position on the issue, there seems to be only one choice for Republicans this time around.
