Hello Everyone,

I am very concerned about ALL the incidents that seem to be happening in Lansdowne recently. Last Night at around 3 AM we woke up to barking dogs and hopped up and looked outside. We saw 3 police cars, one with a search light on and a sheriff behind the house with a flashlight searching the woods (upper Belmont near Belmont Middle School). When we called the Sherriff’s office we were told that someone was seen trying to break into cars and officers were looking for them.

This is almost one month to the day that we had our vehicle smashed into our garage after someone had stolen an SUV from Leesburg. In this instance (as you can read on this site) the drove through a fence, crashed into 5 vehicles causing thousands of dollars damage (our car alone over $11,000). If this is going on shouldn’t the HOA advise people we have an issue here in Lansdowne? What is it that they are doing to make this area safer and not to let it get any worse?

Honestly this makes us very uneasy with the summer months coming up and more and more of our kids out playing in the evening, everyone getting into the spring swing of leaving windows open as you sleep to let in fresh air, watering lawns in the evening, walking, biking etc... Has this area now become a target? Are we safe to do what we once could do and feel safe and secure?

We have been told from numerous people and officers that gang activity has increased in Loudoun County (MS13 in particular) is that what we have going on?

Has anyone else experienced these issues? Any suggestions what can be done? What can we do?

This is an ongoing concern for many of us in Lansdowne.

We have a Sheriff's Deputy - James Spurlock who is assigned as our Neighborhood Watch liaison to LCSO.

The MOST important thing we can do as residents is be ACTIVE participants in neighborhood safety by be watchful and REPORTING any little thing that seems out of sorts - immediately.  Many times we WAIT and see and think "oh , that's probably nothing".   Our advice from law enforcement is "if it doesn't seem right - it probably isn't right" and also - THEY WANT TO COME AND HELP.  That's what they're driving around in their cars for.  They'd rather be investigating something to truly support communities than just randomly driving around.  So CALL.   Also, keep the HOA office informed re these issues .

Loudoun County Sheriff Office: Keep this number at the ready: 703-777-1021 (Sheriff Non-Emgcy Number)

There is a GANG task force inside the LCSO and they are working in conjunction with regional, state and federal officials - Sen Wolf has press releases about funding for the Task Force.

We have to make it so that Criminals cannot operate in our area.  They don't want to get caught and they don't want to go to jail.   So we have to be DILIGENT.
