The online meeting place and marketplace for Lansdowne, VA
Just got a letter from the covenants committee that my Directv dish, which has been in place for over 2 years, is not acceptable. It is located on the garage roof like all the neighbors. The installer said this was the best place for reception and it could not be placed in the back due to our orientation. Anybody else get this letter? Does this have anything to do with the Openband disputes (I am not a fan of Openband and use Satellite TV instead)?
I plan to call the covenants committee to dispute this.

You should definitely dispute this. In addition to disputing it with the covenants committee, I suggest you lobby the board to eliminate most of the restrictions about satellite dishes. Given that a large number (and sure to grow rapidly) number of our homes must get sattelite TV in addition to Openband, they need to make it easier for people to do it.

Have they done anything about this yet? Do you still have the Dish on the garage? I have the same situation. I ordered DirecTV and they told me I need permission to mount this on my own house? Realy?!?!I refuse to use this crappy Openband video sevice anymore....
Thanks Yvonne. Does this mea it "ok" as per FCC law?
My understanding is that it has nothing to do with opendband... but just the location. They don't want dishes in visible areas or areas that can make the house look tacky ... which is hard for some homes since they have to face a certain direction to get reception......
